A creamy and delicious Banana Nutella smoothie recipe guaranteed to make your day better. Made with bananas, nutella, coconut milk and ice cream.
Nutella is like a time machine.
I only needed the slightest scent of it and I’m instantly transported back into my childhood. Lackadaisical carefree days of swinging my feet under the kitchen table as I eagerly awaited my slice of bread with a generous helping of creamy and chocolately nutella.
Are you with me? Was this your childhood too? I mean even my parents were in on it. I think the three us eagerly looking forward to morning toast with nutella.
Did you grow up eating nutella sandwiches? Eventually I grew out of this and skipped the bread entirely, going right for the jar with a large tablespoon –> probably not the best thing to do!
But since I’m apparently supposed to be an adult now I can come up with a more sophisticated way to incorporate nutella into my daily diet.
So meet my banana nutella smoothie recipe. Made with all your favorites – bananas, coconut milk, nutella and chocolate ice cream. This banana nutella smoothie is pretty much a dream come true. D love’s it and would probably have that as a starter before every single one of his meals if he could.
With that list of winning ingredients this couldn’t be anything but delicious. Oh and it just smells soooo good. Like a party in your glass. That deep and nutty hazelnut chocolate scent is simply divine. It’s so familiar and comforting.
Make this on a bad day to feel better. Make this on a good day to feel even better. A banana nutella smoothie pretty much works every day, if you see what where I’m going. And nowadays with vegan natural nutella on the rise, you can actually make this without feeling bad at all! Add in some vegan chocolate ice cream too and this banana nutella smoothie becomes entirely plant based, and almost healthy.
You could start by making your own home made nutella — something I have yet to do, but that has always been on my list. Readers of mine — please share in the comments below if you have tried making your own nutella. I am very curious about how it turned out and if it tastes just like the real thing!
This banana nutella smoothie is particularly perfect when served with my peanut butter apple wrapย in case you were wondering what this goes well with.
And if chocolately smoothies aren’t your thing you could always go for my vegan pina colada smoothie instead.

I did not grow up with Nutella, but I discovered it in high school French class and have loved it ever since. Gained about 15 pounds in grad school due solely to Nutella (well, and frozen pizza). I love the idea of using it in a smoothie!
Vicky says
Haha you’ve got a lot of nutella eating to catch up on then, if you only discovered it in high school! It’s perfect in a smoothie : )

I love Nutella so very much.
This smoothie is the best thing I’ve seen all day, and it has many of my favorite things in it. Now my mouth is watering.
Vicky says
Aw thanks! Hope you enjoy it if you try making it : )

Oh, I so relate! Anything banana, nutella and coconut milk has to be good. Together I am sure it tastes even better.
Not very strangely, I can actually smell it! Lol!

Lisa @ Charlie The Cavalier says
Thanks for stopping by the Charlie the Cavalier facebook page. I do something similar but with chocolate powder instead of chocolate ice cream. Yum!
Vicky says
Will have to try chocolate powder next time : )
Kimberly @ A time to freeze says
Looks amazing! Except for the chocolate ice cream I have all that stuff and want to make it right now. I wonder if plain yogurt would work? Maybe I’d add a little more nutella?
Vicky says
Yogurt works great too — I just made a banana, peanut butter, nutella, yogurt and coconut milk smoothie and that was delicious too. If you want it a bit thicker I would just blend a few ice cubes first. Hope you enjoy this : )

Vicky, this sounds fantastic! If I hadn’t just used up an entire jar of Nutella on some cream puffs, I’d be making this right now. This afternoon’s been nothing short of HOT and I’d love a smoothie right now. Thanks for sharing your yummy recipe. Tweeting!
Vicky says
Thanks! Guess that’s just another reason to get a whole new jar of nutella : ) Nutella cream puffs sound delicious – will you be sharing the recipe on your blog?

Well doesn’t that just sound AMAZING?! Are those toasted coconut chips on the top in your photos? I absolutely adore those. Let’s see if I can make this smoothie, and actually make the Nutella into the recipe instead of straight into my mouth!
Vicky says
Haha thanks! Yep toasted coconut chips that I dug out of a granola mix box so I could sprinkle them on top of the smoothie for the photos haha : )
